On Saturday June 23rd, DUCA Financial Services Credit Union Ltd. officially opened its relocated Newmarket branch. In early May, DUCA had moved its Newmarket branch to 16640 Yonge Street, just south of Mulock Drive, in the Rio Centre. Jack Vanderkooy, President & CEO hosted the event and introduced the following speakers: Chairman Ralph Kikkert, Transitional Director Richard Senechal, Deputy Consul General of The Netherlands Arie Plieger, Mayor Tony Van Bynen and MP Lois Brown, who presented Branch Manager George Van Dyk with a certificate. Also in attendance were Newmarket Regional Councillor John Taylor and Ward 6 Councillor Maddie Di Muccio. Numerous members, staff and Directors attended the celebration.
Jack Vanderkooy touched on the history of this branch in the Newmarket community and the main factor in its success: the staff under the leadership of, George Van Dyk. Chairman Kikkert summarized DUCA’s value proposition – great service with low service charges, competitive interest rates and profit sharing. Richard Senechal conveyed the necessity of maintaining DUCA’s values for the future and summarized the steps taken during this transitional time.
DUCA is rooted in the tradition of creating value for its members, in a cooperative spirit of people helping people. Jack Vanderkooy and Richard Senechal presented Mayor Van Bynen with a gift and presented Jackie Playter, Chairperson of Fundraising for the Belinda’s Place Foundation, with a cheque for $1,000.
We look back on a fantastic event and are convinced that Newmarket branch will thrive at its new location.
