DUCA Village Charity Golf Tournament Raises $30,000 for Opportunity International

The first ever DUCA Charity Golf Tournament was held on September 14, 2011 at the Royal Woodbine Golf Club. Those in attendance enjoyed perfect weather and excellent course conditions. With the help of members, staff, sponsors and friends the event raised $30,000 for Opportunity International Canada. The funds raised will help provide access to financial services for those who would otherwise not have access in a village just north of Cartegena, Colombia. Those services include micro-loans (some as small as $60), which can transform lives by providing jobs and income for many in the community.

Jack Vanderkooy, President and CEO of DUCA, presented a cheque for $30,000 to Jannalee Anderson, National Director of Philanthropy at Opportunity International Canada. "We would like to thank all of our sponsors, members and staff for making this possible," commented Mr. Vanderkooy. "With your help we are able to make a difference in so many lives and give back to those in our global community."

"Every stroke taken today helped make financial security a reality for many Colombians who previously would not have any access to financial services," commented Jannalee Anderson.

DUCA's relationship with Opportunity International dates back to 2009 when DUCA committed to raising over $150,000 through the DUCA Village project. To date over $118,000 has been raised.
